Wall Hanging - Live

This wall hanging has a beige batik and cotton patchwork background. The foreground fabrics are blue and green batiks. Many beads and found objects embellish the piece. The colors blue and green give me energy,  'Live' seemed an appropriate name. 17.25 inches square.

Wall Hanging - Tranquiity

This wall hanging was influenced by a very neat and tidy contemporary house I visited a few weeks previous. I used several batik fabrics and horizontal free motion quilting in the grey area. It has an Asian feel to me. 30 inches long x 21 inch wide.

Burgandy Wall Hanging - Passion

The finished wall hanging. Complete with free motion quilting and detailed bead work. The wall hanging is framed on a frame made from a burgundy cotton fabric decoupaged onto the frame. The wall hanging was them sewn onto the background. "take your passion, make it happen" is embroidered meandering though the piece. 17.5 inches square finished.

The stitching is all done. I couched coordinating beige yarn around the perimeter of the wall hanging to finish the edges. All that is left is framing.




Here are close up images of the color sections. I beaded a different design in each section trying to coordinate the bead colors and thread a closely as I could. I also outlined the inner and outer boarder with embroidery floss.




















Color wheel project is coming together nicely. The free motion quilting in the stippling pattern is done. Beading, edge binding and mounting/framing remains.

Wall Hanging - color wheel

I decided to make a color wheel to put in my studio to serve as a reference. It also gives me another opportunity to practice free motion quilting and beading. I also want to try a new method of displaying some of my wall hangings. At this point I have cut the individual colors out and used a permanent adhesive on the back to tack them to the background fabric, then added pins for more security. Next is sewing all of the colors on with coordinating thread.

Wall Hanging - wine

White wine wall hanging. Three bottles of white wine are appliqued onto background batik fabrics. The entire surface has been free motion quilted. Many beads are hand sewn to enhance the surface. Multicolored wool yarn was couched along the edges of the wall hanging. The piece was mounted on a wooden frame covered with burlap, ready for display. 14.5" by 16.5"

Finished! This wine wall hanging was free motion quilted with the addition of many hand sewn beads as accents. Various yarns were couched along the edge as well. The wall hanging was mounted on a frame covered with burlap. 14.5" by 15" finished outside dimensions.

Chautauqua Bell Tower Wall Hanging - complete

Bell Tower - all done! I've added a few beads to the water, sky and along the tree line. The bell tower clock and windows are also embelished with beads. Yarn emphasizses the waves on the lake. White fluff and pastels enhance the clouds over the quilting. I've couched some multicolored yarn to the perimeter of the wall hanging.
