Wine Wall Hangings - complete

Red Wine wall hanging mounted on a wooden frame covered in burlap. Batiks and cottons appliqued on with FMQ and beading added to enhance. Yarn couches the boarder.
Similar to the red wine wall hanging, the white wine wall hanging also uses mostly batik fabrics.  Beads and stippling FMQ complete the work.  Yarn is couched to the edges to finish.

White wine wall hanging, at the beginning.  I have the idea and the pieces are cut.  I need to wash the labels again to fray all of the sides. I will then choose a background to add to the labels as well.
Red wine wall hanging. Added a few grapes.

It's done, my first quilted wall hanging.  I am so pleased with the result of my efforts.  I added some beads to the water to give it a little glimmer and a few to the clouds also.  I outlined the central tree line with alternating flat and round beads.  The clock was top stitched and beads were added on the quarter hours.  Beads also outline the window in the tower.  The trees and bushes were added to the little peninsula. The addition of different colors and textures of yarn to the water gives it a little more depth. I also included a sail boat and dock to break up the monotony of the water.  I finished the edges by couching a piece of variegated yarn to the perimeter, a large zigzag stitch made this very easy.  To hang the wall hanging I made two small triangular pockets on the top two corners and inserted a flat piece of thin wood.  The wall hanging is not very heavy, a small nail in the wall should be enough to display the piece.  The finished size is 16"x16".

I've quilted/top stitched all of the seams.  Now I need to add the tree - below - and embellish with beads, pastels, yarn and a little free motion quilting.

This is a tree for the Bell Tower quilt wall hanging.  I was a water soluble stabilizer, sprayed with a little adhesive.  Then tiny branches and a trunk are placed onto the stabilizer.  Tiny leaves are added next.  More spray adhesive, but only a little so that the top layer of water soluble stabilizer will stick.  Next, sew with a clear mono-polymer thread criss-crossing over the tree so that all of the leaves are caught within the stitches.  Then soak the tree in water gently massaging the tree so help loosen the stray adhesive, the water soluble stabilizer will dissolve but the adhesive will remain (use a little as possible)
Bell Tower Quit

Bell Tower quilt.  The fabric is loosely placed at this point. 16x16 now but will be a little smaller once the quit is completed.
Tree

The tree on the left has the stabilizer washed away.  Still need to iron the tree.  When I attach the tree to the quilt I will place it under green netting with some wool fibers.
