Piggy Canvas Bag

This cute little piggy is appliqued onto the duck cloth bag. He has a bright pink snout and matching ears. His tail is made up of three different yarns then braided together and curled into place. The pigs belly is stuffed with soft batting which gives him a little dimension, that is, fat :-)  His also have four little hooves. This bag also has the unique hardware with an antiqued brass finish holding on the straps.

Owl Canvas Bag

Hi, I've just finished this cute owl bag for my upcoming shows at Laurel and Women's Work. The Owl, a symbol of wisdom, is appliqued on the light pink duck cloth bag. Unique antiqued brass finish hardware attached the straps that are long enough to rest on your shoulder or carry in your hand.

My Cat, Gus

Hi, I just finished this cute set of coasters. The image is of our rescue cat 'Gus'. I'm gifting a set to his previous owner today. I hope she likes them. Gus is a very sweet cat and we are very lucky to have him in our family.

Wonky Quilts

Just finished two new lap quilts for two special boys going off to Univeristy. I made these quilts in a modern format using wonky squares of their schools 'tricolors'. Each color is FMQ with a different pattern.

Burgandy Wall Hanging - Passion

The finished wall hanging. Complete with free motion quilting and detailed bead work. The wall hanging is framed on a frame made from a burgundy cotton fabric decoupaged onto the frame. The wall hanging was them sewn onto the background. "take your passion, make it happen" is embroidered meandering though the piece. 17.5 inches square finished.

Burgandy 'Passion' wall hanging

I was inspired to make this wall hanging from a picture I found in a book. Then last week a friend mentioned her had been to an estate sale where she discovered some beads. I went and found several that I will use on this wall hanging.

Initially for the wall hanging I found several different fabrics in similar tones and sewed them onto the cotton quilt batting. Next, I cut out three shapes and randomly arranged them on the piece. Then I sewed the words 'take your passion, make it happen' around the shapes. I've started to sew some of my found beads onto the fabric pieces now.
The embellishing begins...........

Wall Hanging - color wheel

The stitching is all done. I couched coordinating beige yarn around the perimeter of the wall hanging to finish the edges. All that is left is framing.

Here are close up images of the color sections. I beaded a different design in each section trying to coordinate the bead colors and thread a closely as I could. I also outlined the inner and outer boarder with embroidery floss.

Color wheel project is coming together nicely. The free motion quilting in the stippling pattern is done. Beading, edge binding and mounting/framing remains.

All sewn, now lets free motion quilt!

Wall Hanging - color wheel

I decided to make a color wheel to put in my studio to serve as a reference. It also gives me another opportunity to practice free motion quilting and beading. I also want to try a new method of displaying some of my wall hangings. At this point I have cut the individual colors out and used a permanent adhesive on the back to tack them to the background fabric, then added pins for more security. Next is sewing all of the colors on with coordinating thread.
